Here's a riddle for you:
If a picture is worth a thousand words, how many pictures are worth 725 cookies?
This year's flagship Drop In & Decorate® event, a three-day extravaganza on the first weekend in December, netted 725 beautiful cookies for our recipient organizations: Crossroads Rhode Island family emergency shelter, the Foster and Glocester food pantries, and the six member shelters of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
More than 60 people stopped by to lend their artistic vision and snack on a few broken sugar cookies.
This year, we switched from pastry bags to squeeze bottles, to the delight of all who participated. Something about the bottles -- perhaps they are more crayon-like? -- freed up the child within each of us, and the cookie designs were exuberant.
Expert icing maker Lucia Watson once again mixed up a palette of bright colors, with invaluable technical advice from Bridget of the fantastic cookie blog Bake at 350.
As always, the event featured smiles galore, from cookie decorators young, old, experienced and brand-new, and from our recipient agencies, too. Special thanks to everyone who made it happen!
Oh -- do you want to see some of our cookies?
(I've uploaded more of our cookie photos here.)
Next up: our second annual Mother's Day/May Day event. Stay tuned for details.

The cookies look amazing! I can't believe you decorated 725 cookies...and having had my first experience with pastry bags recently, I bet the squeeze bottles made all the differencee!

These cookies are absolutely the best ever! I'd love to see people get them and open and take a bite. What a perfect Holiday experience to be a part of! Thanks, Lydia, Lucia, Ted, and everyone.
