Many thanks to Rhode Island Monthly for naming Drop In & Decorate the best culinary cause in Rhode Island! We couldn't be more proud of the many volunteers who work hard all year to spread the cookie love.
Here's what the magazine wrote about us in their August 2009 issue:
It's not every day that someone up and starts a nonprofit. And Drop In & Decorate is certainly one we can sink our sugar-loving teeth into. Founded by local food writer Lydia Walshin, the group's premise is simple: bake some cookies, gather friends to decorate them (the more frosting the better), and then donate them to a food pantry, women's shelter or other community organization. Sure, no one needs cookies, but everyone loves cookies, which is why we love the concept. What better way to show someone in need that you care (and they matter) than with a decadent, beautiful dose of sugar?

That's great...congratulations!!!

Hi Lydia,
This is wonderful! Belated congratulations on this honor, and several others I see in your posts.
I was just thinking it was about time for another Drop In & Decorate event in our area, and thought I'd check in again.
And as always, I'm very impressed!
Of the cookie decorating crew who helped me earlier this year, quite a few are doing college applications in the next two months.
I will plant the idea now so we can have another event sometime soon after the the first wave of application deadlines, and before the second one.
Thanks, as always, Lydia!
