Although summer is traditionally a less hectic time here at Drop In & Decorate, our cookies-for-donation events go on year-round. Over the next couple of weeks, we'll catch you up on some of the great events that have happened this year, and we'll share tips and techniques for making and donating your cookies.
Yuchen, a resident assistant and multicultural intern in the Office of Academic Engagement and Programming at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, organized their first Drop In & Decorate® event in December.
Their beautiful and creative cookies were decorated and sold; although our first choice is always to donate the actual cookies, a bake sale is a great alternative when an agency cannot accept donations of prepared food. Yuchen sent along this note with lots of great photos: "We raised $65 from the cookie program and we combined it with a T-shirt program to raise a total of $250 to give to Elijah's Promise Soup Kitchen."
