Abbie hosted her first event and shared photos and this note:
Just wanted to share a few of the pictures from last Sunday's Drop In & Decorate® event in Abilene, Texas.
This was my first attempt at an event. I'm blessed with having wonderful friends who were thrilled to be a part of the process. Two friends and I baked 238 cookies. Twelve friends dropped in on Sunday afternoon to decorate them. We ended up with 230 cookies! (Taste-tasting, dropped a few....)
The next day, four of us packaged up the cookies with a pair of socks and a packet of hot chocolate and delivered them to the Love and Care Ministries. They will be distributing the cookie packets to the homeless on the streets of Abilene. Love and Care Ministries said they were blessed to have such a wonderful gift to share. (I visited with the folks at Love and Care before my event. They loved the sock and hot chocolate idea. We are going to work with them again and help get "supplies" to the homeless....with a cookie.)
Comments from my friends about the event include:
"When are we going to do this again?"
"I've been thinking all night about how to decorate my cookies next time!"
"Thanks for organizing this. I feel like I have made an important contribution to our community."
And my personal favorite: "Do you think we could have done 400????"
Thanks for your support and fantastic guidance. Great recipes. Great ideas. Thanks for the Michael's card and Pillsbury coupons. And thank you for coming up with such a loving, giving idea!
Wow! What a great event, Abbie and friends. And I love that your cookies are all the same shape, yet no two look the same. Wonderful idea!
