At a Massachusetts cooking school, kids and parents decorate 400 cookies for families in crisis

Jo and Christine organized their first Drop In & Decorate® event last month, and sent this great report along with lots of photos:

In Newton, MA, just outside Boston, there is a little cooking school called Create a Cook. The mission and philosophy at Create a Cook is that they teach all ages, from eager three year olds to the most recalcitrant adults, how to cook and how to love cooking. Classes in basic skills like knife handling and food safety are combined with cuisines from around the world. There is something for everyone in the kitchens at Create a Cook.

Texas kids and moms decorate cookies for local food pantry

In December Tracy hosted her first Drop In & Decorate® event, and shared this report:

Here's a picture of my younger daughter holding some of the cookies as we were about to deliver them to the Roanoke Food Pantry. We were having so much fun at the decorating event that I completely forgot to take pictures!

We had eight second grade girls decorating cookies, including my oldest daughter, and five 3-5 year olds who decorated with the help of their moms. We had Christmas carols going, and everyone had a great time.

I think we will definitely do this again next year. We ended up donating around 65 large cookies. I had intended to do 100 cookies, but we made the cookies bigger than I had planned so there were less of them!

Tracy, you are rock stars! Those giant cookies have made many families so happy.

Chicago friends make a difference with cookie donation to food pantry

Katie hosted her first event for a local food pantry, and shared this report:

On Wednesday, we delivered the cookies to the St. Ignatius Food Pantry in the Rodger's Park neighborhood in Chicago. We were in and out so quickly that I forgot to take pictures in spite of having the camera in my pocket!

I ran the event as an open house and had a steady stream of people from noon until 8:00 (the cookies were actually done at 7:30). Twenty people decorated, 8 adults and 12 kids.
